'Thripitaka' Volumes Taken to Anuradhapura for Enshrinement

 
Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake last evening (18) after attending the Pirith chanting at the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, participated at the start of the procession that carries newly carved out Thripitaka Pirivana books and other golden scriptures before they are taken to new ‘Sandahiru Seya’ at Anuradhapura for enshrinement.
 
After making offerings to the Temple of Tooth, the Commander offered a tray of betel and invited the Maha Sangha to commence the chanting before the sacred chronicles are taken to Anuradhapura in procession for enshrinement soon after offer of alms to members of the Maha Sangha.
 
Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake afterwards placed the volumes of Thripitaka in the decorated vehicles for carriage to Anuradhapura ‘Sandahiru Seya’ amidst beating of auspicious drums. 
 
Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Mano Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Central, Brigadier D.S.N.K Senadheera, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division and a gathering of officers and other ranks participated in the chanting ceremony and the alms-giving Tuesday (18) afternoon.
