'SUCCESS' &; 'SPUR' donate tin sheets for bunkers

Shelters, be they are on the ground or underground, used by troops are generally constructed with the use of discarded metal sheets, plywood sheets or any other material that befits the structure as the security concerns and requirements are of more importance to Guardians of the Nation.

Many cadjan-thatched bunkers in the north, which house soldiers during most part of their routine duties on a daily basis, are the fort from which they maintain uninterrupted vigilance.

The Non-Governmental Organization, 'SUCCESS' led by Dr. Ms. Anula Wijesundara with the support her organization received from Australia-based 'SPUR' organization came forward to repair a number of bunkers in 55 Division in the Jaffna peninsula

.

Following a conducted tour, those philanthropists came forward to buy a stock of tin sheets worth over Rs. 600,000 (US $ 6061) for the use of bunkers at Nagarkovil, Eluththumadduval and Vidaththapalai areas.

Dr. Ms Wijesundara, who raised over Rs. 100,000 from medical community on behalf of her organization recently handed over those tin sheets to the troops in 55 Division at a symbolic hand-over ceremony at Kodikamam Army camp.
