More than 5000 school students, representing all the schools in Embilipitiya Educational Zone, took part in the inaugural ‘Sammabhimani’ religious programme, initiated by Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero at Embilipitiya, Padalangala Chandrikawewa Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya Friday (7) morning, following a conceptual notion of HE the President.
The entire series of programmes, coordinated by Sri Lanka Army will take place at Embilipitiya continuously for three days (November 7,8,9) at the same venue and elsewhere afterwards. Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Chief of Staff, welcomed the Dhamma preacher and conducted him to the stage for conduct of the day’s programme at Embilipitiya Friday (7) morning.
Mr Hemantha Prematilake, Additional Secretary to Ministry of Education, several principals and teachers took part in the programme.
Refreshments to all the participants were provided by the businessman, Mr M.P.G Sarathchandra, proprietor, Yatiyana Samuha Vyapara Ltd. The evening session of the programme will take place this evening (7).
Meanwhile, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake was in Embilipitiya Friday (7) night to attend the ‘Sammabhimani’ programme that got underway as the second segment of the programme.
