‘Gunner Supercross - 2013’, the sporting pride of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) got underway at Minneriya Artillery Complex tracks on Sunday (4) to a packed crowd of more than 25000 - 30000 sport enthusiasts and motor racing fans.
The exciting event, organized for the 8th consecutive time was held in collaboration with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDR). Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army graced the occasion as Chief Guest, accompanied by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB).
Commander of the Army during his participation in the inaugural ceremony shared a couple of views with senior officers enjoying the event. At the invitation of SLA Colonel Commandant Major General J.C Rambukpotha, Commander gave away trophies to the winners.
There were more than 20 events in both motorcycling and racing in this year’s ‘Gunner Supercross’.
