The first phase of the programme covered re-painting of the Naga Vihara temple, St. Anthony’s church, Munneshvaram Hindu temple and Jumma mosque. A project to make ten volley ball courts in different places in the peninsula was also launched during this programme.

A special medical clinic and workshops for GCE O/L students were also conducted as features of the “Tharunyata Hetak,” programme during the same period. Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa inaugurated those programmes while he was in Jaffna with a team of the members of his organization.
