Army Inter Regiment Kabaddi Championship After A Marginal Tussle Goes to SLLI
A closely contested Kabaddi encounter in the Army at the last moment of the tussle recorded victory to the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) against its equally competent Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) rivals on Wednesday (16) evening. Kabaddi, the popular South Asian sport which has now made its niche in the Army calendar of sports too, saw the Army had its Inter Regiment Tournament finals on Wednesday (16) at Maharagama Youth Council Indoor Auditorium.
Organizers of the 16th Sumathi Tele Award Ceremony-2011 has selected one of the recent Army commercials as a nominee to the final round under the category of ‘Television Commercials’. The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya made an inspection tour to the ongoing construction of the first eco-friendly Army luxury holiday resort in Palatupana, Yala on Saturday (19). The luxury resort with a number of three-storyed cottages will be made available to all members in the Army who served the country tirelessly in the fight against terrorism to enjoy their leisure time. The resort is built under a concept mooted by the Commander of the Army.
