  • 23 HARDCORE TIGER TERRORISTS SURRENDER

    MULLAITTIVU:
    23 TIGER terrorists, unable to survive the onslaught of the advancing troops surrendered to the troops this morning (26) immediately after the troops ordered them to lay down arms after the capture of VALAYANMADAM area. Those terrorists including 17 males and 06 females with their weapons however surrendered to the troops after they were encircled.  With their surrender, two-hundred more trapped civilians were also rescued by the troops immediately after the enemy’s surrender. 

  • The Figure Crosses 111,512

    MULLAITTIVU: THE number of civilians that were rescued by the Army from LTTE grip in PUTHUMATTALAN “No Fire Zone” by Sunday (26) evening rose to 111,512. The number of escapees after 20th April has thus reached this figure by Sunday (26) evening at about 6.00 p.m. 

  • Navy Destroys LTTE Suicide Boats

    MULLAITTIVU: SRI Lanka Navy on duty in the seas off MULLAITTIVU confronted a cluster of LTTE attack boats during Sunday (26) wee hours and sank three of those vessels with terrorists on board. According to the Navy, at least 12 terrorists were confirmed killed and several were injured in confrontations that lasted for  a few hours. The cluster of LTTE attack boats had set off from VELLAMULLAIVAIKKAL shore around 1.00 a.m. for their latest futile mission.

  • Lankans in LA Protest LTTE's Human Shield

    SRI LANKANS in Los Angeles gathered opposite the United States Federal Government building in the world renowned Wilshire Business corridor to voice their disapproval against the facade of misinformation provided by the LTTE claiming that the civilians were targeted by the Armed Forces. The LTTE has openly urged the civilians to be the last line of defence for the beseiged Prabhakaran now bunker hopping in Vanni. The Sri Lankans carrying posters accused that LTTE of killing innocent Tamils and genocide. The rally and protest march was organized by the Sri Lanka Patriots of Los Angeles.

    THE Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, one of the world's most violent terrorist outfits, are surrounded in northern Sri Lanka and about to be destroyed - but Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and European self-styled peacemakers are getting in the way of victory. The meddlers should let Colombo finish off this menace. In desperation, the Tamil Tigers are using tens of thousands of locals as human shields. The Sri Lankan government declared a cease-fire and called on the Tigers to release their hostages, but unmanned-aerial-vehicle video footage shows the terrorists holding masses of innocents at gunpoint, refusing them freedom. Last week, Mrs. Clinton played into the hands of the terrorists by blaming the Sri Lankan government for the crisis.
  • STATEMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT ON THE SECURITY SITUATION

    Here is a statement issued by the Government on Monday (27):

         Government of Sri Lanka has decided that combat operations have reached their conclusion. Our Security Forces have been instructed to end the use of heavy caliber guns, combat aircraft and aerial weapons which could cause civilian casualties. Our Security Forces will confirm their attempts to rescuing civilians who are held hostage and give foremost priority to saving civilians.

  • Tigers Demand Blood from Entrapped Civilians

    MULLAITTIVU: ENTRAPPED civilians in the remaining swathe of land in the “No Fire Zone” (NFZ), have been forced to donate blood to Tigers (LTTE) at a makeshift hospital, said to be functioning close to the Pullair Kovil (Hindu Temple) in KOKKANAI in the “No Fire Zone”, civilians arriving in cleared areas have told Army troops. Civilians have further confirmed Tigers after extracting blood from all of them exempt entrapped youngsters from conscripting them to fight the troops. Reports affirmed that a few hundreds of injured Tigers were being treated in this temporary hospital after injured terrorists are brought there.

  • Naval Troops Destroy One LTTE Boat

     MULLAITTIVU: SRI LANKA Navy Fast attack crafts and the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) boats observed two Sea Tiger boats moving towards the advancing ground troops in the sea off MULLAITTIVU adjacent to the “No Fire Zone” around 4.30 a.m. on Monday (27). Naval crafts intercepted those two boats and directed gunfire at those two boats while completely destroying one boat and causing heavy damages to the other. Navy confirmed that four Sea Tigers were killed in the attack and no casualties among sailors were reported.

  • Seva Vanitha Launches Second Phase of Scholarship Scheme

    THE second phase of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch’s (SVAB) scheme for children of War Hero families got underway at the SVAB auditorium in the Army Headquarters Monday (27)  morning.  Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, First Lady graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Mrs. Kusum Wickramanayaka, the spouse of Hon. Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake. The scholarship programme awards One hundred, worth Rs. 10,000/= each to students of War Hero families, sponsored by the funds collected by the SVAB. People’s Bank operates the scholarship programme after receiving the deposits.  People’s Bank also annually offers incentives to those children who continue to receive monthly installments for their studies. 

  • Two Huge LTTE Fragmentation Mines, Huge Vessel & Radar Found

    MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS moving in captured AMPELAVANPOKKANAI areas in the No Fire Zone during their searches uncovered two huge LTTE improvised fragmentation mines, named after the Tiger producer ( see photo at left) along with many other LTTE items. Those two most devastating explosive devices, quite similar to the function of claymore mines, carried the name, ‘Eerthan-99’ , most probably the Tiger terrorist who was responsible for production of it for LTTE terrorist activities.
