  • Suicide Jackets Found in Wellawatte

    COLOMBO : Police on a tip off conducted a search on ERATHUSA Road, WELLAWATTE and found two suicide jackets, one micro pistol , two hand grenades and two electric detonators on Thursday (6). In the meantime, Police recovered one hand grenade from SAPUGASKANDA area, the same day (6).

  • Troops Bag More & More LTTE weaponry

    NORTH : Army troops operating in the north conducted search and clear operations in the general areas of KILACHCHENA, VISUAMADU, MURUSAMODDAI, PUTHUKUDIRIPPPU, PUTHUKUDIRIPPU WEST, KUPPILANKULAM and YOMARUVANKULAM areas to recover  four T-56 weapons, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, one hundred and twelve RPGs sixty-seven RPG chargers, fifteen magazines, two thousand seven hundred and seventy rounds of T 56 ammunition, two thousand and one hundred rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition.............

PATHMANATHAN alias KUTTI MASTER alias KUTTI SRI alias THARMALINGAM SHANMUGAM KUMARAN alias THAMBIAH SELVARAJA alias KALUDAI alias PERIYADURAI alias SADASIVAM DHARMALINGAM alias many other names has been arrested and brought down to Sri Lanka, Defence officials confirmed.

    COLOMBO: LTTE’s international arms procurer, KP now in Sri Lankan custody had held a number of appointments in the organization since 1981. KP, one of the most trusted confidantes of VELUPILLAI PRABHAKARAN was the secretary of LTTE international affairs after he proved himself to be an effective international coordinator for some time. He became the Director of WICKRAMS Holdings Shipping Lines of the LTTE in 1984. Expanding his role further, he joined as a Director to the Marine Shipping and Trading Ltd in UK. He also started exports/imports from Malaysian market to the UK in order to collect funds for LTTE.....

  • They Return to East with New Glimmers of Hope

    A NEW glimmer of hope and a smile was visible in them as they vacated their temporary Vavuniya Relief Village shelters and arrived at their former dwelling places in the east for resettlement. A total of 297 families of 967 members arrived in Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara areas on Wednesday (5) with their luggage using transport, provided by the government in coordination with Army authorities in respective areas. Five hundred and fifty-two civilians belonging to one hundred and sixty-four families.....

    THE Colombo Stock Exchange this morning (7) recorded its highest ever in the past fourteen months as the news on the arrest of LTTE overseas leader, KP (K. PATHMANATHAN) reached the business community. The price index within a span of ninety minutes rose by seven percent, the highest to record in the past fourteen months, the Colombo Stock Exchange announced.

    THE arrestee, K. PATHMANATHAN alias KP of the LTTE used to receive roughly about US$ 300 million (about Rs. 30 billion) in cash to the LTTE coffers on an annual basis, the interrogators have been told. Most of those monies have been earned by terrorists through illegal means by way of arms smuggling, drug trafficking, transfer of weapons to various terrorist organizations, extortions and other fund-raising activities. Another chunk of money separately comes from LTTE sympathizers and overseas networks, it has been revealed.

    EAST: SPECIAL TASK FORCE (STF) troops in BATTICALOA on a tip-off  conducted a search and clear operation in the general area THARAVIKULAM and recovered two cans containing 55 kg of C-4 explosives on Friday (7) evening.

  • Both Army & Navy Chiefs Meet Mullaittivu Military Chiefs

    ARMY COMMANDER Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Navy commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, together flew to Mullaittivu area  Saturday (08) morning, in order to plan out new security measures and inquire into the needs of newly-established Security Forces Headquarters (SFHQ) Mullaittivu. This is their first visit to Mullaittivu after they assumed duties in their respective commanding capacities. They were received on arrival by the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (SFHQ) Mullaittivu Major General Nandana Udawaththa.
