  • Commander Extends his New Year Greetings

    COMMANDER OF THE ARMY Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, addressing a section of Officers, Non Commissioned Officers, Other Ranks and civil staff at the Army Headquarters extended his New Year wishes to all ranks of the Sri Lanka Army and their families in connection with the Sinhalese and Hindu New year. Army Chief, during his address Thursday morning (15), paid sincere gratitude to Officers and Other Ranks who are away from their loved ones during the festival season and those still under treatment for injuries after fighting against the terrorists for the noble cause of safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland. He further extended his wishes to family members of the soldiers serving in the North and East.

  • Ranaviru Sevana War Heroes Get Ready For Performances.

    IN ORDER to supervise preparations being made by War Heroes at the Ranaviru Rehabilitation Centre in Ragama, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya , President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) recently made a tour to “Ranaviru Sevana” and saw for herself the arrangements in place for the upcoming Fund Raising Programs at the SVAB.  Those War Heroes at Ranaviru Sevana, selected to do their performances at different Fund Raising Program are being trained.....

  • Commander Dispatches Sweetmeats to Soldiers in Remote Areas

    COMMANDER of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya extending his New Year greetings to troops based in the North and East inducted a programme to dispatch stocks of New Year sweetmeats during a symbolic gesture held at Army Headquarters premises this morning (10). Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, pioneer of the project, the first in Army history handed over parcels containing those sweetmeats to representatives of island-wide....

  • SFHQ Wanni Distributes Gift Parcels

    MAJOR GENERAL G.D.H.K Gunarathna, Commander Security Forces Headquarters,  Wanni (SFHQ-W)  and Competent Authority for Internally Displaced Persons in the North visited the Army Field Hospital in Vavuniya on 10th April and distributed gift parcels among other ranks receiving treatment at the hospital on the eve of the Sinhala  & Hindu New Year. The civil employees at the hospital also received gift parcels from the Wanni Commander.

  • Troops in Wanni Welcome New Year

    OFFICERS and soldiers at the Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ - W) welcomed the New Year according to traditions by organizing a special tea party for all ranks at SFHQ - W auditorium on 14th April morning. Brigadier A.P. De Z. Wickremaratne, Brigadier General Staff at SFHQ - Wanni lit the traditional oil lamp inaugurating the tea party rich with traditional sweetmeats.   • SECOND COURT MARTIAL TO SIT AGAIN TOMORROW

    THE second Court Martial hearing charges against General Sarath Fonseka resumed its sittings at Navy Headquarters Monday morning (19). The counsel for defence made his submissions with regard to the objections raised by them in respect of the jurisdiction of the Court. Prosecution is to make oral submissions when the case is taken up tomorrow (20) again at 9.30 a.m. Court adjourned its sittings accordingly.
