    Sri Lanka Army, as an integral partner to the country’s road to development and prosperity, now after bringing freedom to the whole nation, has demonstrated the fact that the Army is capable in both military prowess or otherwise. This is a fitting tribute as well as a stimulus, reposed in us by HE, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, Secretary Defence and the general public.

    Troops of the Security Forces – Jaffna extending their community welfare projects to interior village areas in Jaffna, arranged a donation of school items to students of Panthalai Kanakasabai school in Thelippalai. Kanakasabai Primary school in 515 Brigade area functions with an attendance of about 50 students on a daily.....
  • Diyatalawa Fox Hill Super Cross Attracts Record Crowds


    This year’s Sri Lanka’s No. 1 Motor Sports event, ‘Fox Hill Super Cross’ that brought thousands of fans to the chilly garrison town, Diyatalawa, took place on Saturday (16) with several distinguished guests in attendance. First Lady Mrs Shiranthi Rajapakse, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) were among distinguished guests who witnessed the mammoth event.
     
  • Commander Extends his New Year Greetings

     
    Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, addressing Officers, Non Commissioned Officers, Other Ranks and civil staff at the Army Headquarters extended his New Year wishes to all ranks of the Sri Lanka Army and their families in connection with the Sinhala and Hindu New year. Army Chief, during his address Monday morning (18), paid sincere gratitude to Officers and Other Ranks who are away from their loved ones during the festival season.....

  • Soldiers Unearth Scam to Create False Security Situation in Jaffna in an Attempt to Gain Bogus Refugee Status

     
    Soldiers in Jaffna unearthed a prolonged scam carried out by an organized group to create a false image on the security situation in the country especially in the north and east. The group of racketeers who have their roots in the East has been pursuing out this clandestine operation, pretending to be members of the security forces, with the objective of seek asylum in foreign countries as refugees and also in order to extend the Refugee status of the majority of Tamil Diaspora.
     
  • Army Headquarters Marks Sinhala-Hindu New Year With a Fun-making Traditional New Year Festival

     
    Festival atmosphere in the country on account of the Sinhala-Hindu New Year prevailed in the Moors grounds throughout Tuesday (19) morning when officers and soldiers serving at Army Headquarters got together to mark the occasion by holding a fun-making New Year festival. Commander of the Army Lieutinant General Jagath Jayasuriya took time off to attend the festival as Chief Guest. The hoisting of the National and Army flags by the Commander and the Commandant.....

  • SLA Salutes its Fallen War Heroes During Anniversary Commemoration


    Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment (SLA), during its 123rd anniversary commemoration ceremony on Wednesday (20) at the Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda recalled the vivid memories of their fallen War Heroes with dignity and honour. The day’s agenda got to a start soon after the arrival of the chief guest, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army for the ceremony. A Guard Turnout at the entrance to the venue greeted the visiting Army Chief in accordance with military traditions, seconds after he was warmly received.
