  • Army Organizes Blood Donation Campaign in Jaffna


    Troops serving 6 Battalion Sri Lanka Signal Corps (6 SLSC) and 23 Gajaba Regiment (23 GR) under the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), conducted a blood donation campaign at the request of Jaffna Teaching Hospital Blood Bank on Saturday (27).
     
     
  • Army Launches 'Shramadana' Campaign


    Troops serving 512 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) launched a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clean the Ariyakulum Tank that lies on the wayside of Jaffna - Palaly road, removing polythene, plastic and garbage from tank water, including banks of the tank on Saturday (20). 
     
  • Eastern Troops Do more Community Work


    Under the direction of the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E), troops of 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) coordinated a donation of school accessories to Vinayagar Pre-School in Koraweli on Saturday (20). Dr Malkanthi Hettiarachchi and Ms Chithra Malkanthi sponsored the donation which benefited about   30 school children. Commanding officers of the Battalion, students, parents and villagers attended the occasion.
     
  • General Jagath Jayasuriya Bids Farewell to Take Up CDS Appointment


    Commander of the Army General Jagath Jayasuriya who added an indelible chapter to the military history in Sri Lanka after the conclusion of the three- decade long conflict against LTTE terrorism, this morning (31) symbolically handed over the office of the Commander to his successor, Major General R.M.D Ratnayake in accordance with military traditions.
  • Outgoing Commander Recalls His Contribution to the Army During Guard of Honour


    A representative gathering of officers and soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army Tuesday (30) morning accorded a salute to the outgoing Commander of the Army General Jagath Jayasuriya during a formal military ceremony at CH & FC ground at Maitland Crescent.   • NEW COMMANDER OF THE ARMY


    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake who assumed office on August 1, 2013 is the 20th Commander of the Army. He was enlisted to the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 06 February 1980 as an Officer Cadet and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 18 July 1981 in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment. Upon commissioning, he followed the Commando Officers Course, Infantry Young Officers Course, Battalion Support Weapon Course, Junior Command and Senior Command Courses in India, Governance and Management of Defence Course at Cranfield University, UK, Higher Level Security Studies Diploma Course and Advanced Communication Skills Course in Asia-Pacific Centre for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He also graduated from Defence Service Command and Staff College............

  • New Army Commander Assuming Duties Sets Out His Vision for the Future


    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, 20th Commander of the Army took office Thursday (1) morning, amidst religious rites and rituals and formal military ceremonials. The first segment of the ceremony began at Ministry of Defence (MoD) grounds with military honours, presented by troops of his own regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI).
