  • Gajaba Troops were First to Come for Rescue in Trincomalee Tragedy


    Sri Lanka Army’s 2 Gajaba Regiment troops and 221 Brigade troops in Trincomalee with the support of civil boats and Navy personnel in the seas, adjacent to the Swami Rock of the sacred Koneshwaran Temple premises in Trincomalee, were the first to rush to rescue the two children and the mother who had reportedly tried to commit suicide after jumping into the seas off the precipice recently.

  • First Batch of ASL Graduates Pass Out in Colourful Ceremony


    Effective and efficient implementation of logistic responsibilities of the Army, received an inspirational boost when the first batch of 24 officers in the Logistics Staff Course - I, trained at the Army School of Logistics (ASL) in Trincomalee, passed out in a colourful ceremony, held at the Defence Services College, Colombo 2 Monday (22) evening. The ASL, meant to groom officers with a sound competence and professionalism in the field of logistics, adding one more feather to the Army sphere of learning.....

  • 55 Division Joins Hands with 'World Cleanup Day'


    To coincide with the ‘World Cleanup Day’ (Sept 24), Jaffna-Vettalakerni based 55 Division Headquarters, launched a cleaning programme in all Brigades, Units and Training Centres in the peninsula. The half-day programme collected polythene, plastic throwaways, garbage, software pieces and environmentally harmful elements from respective areas.
  • Sri Lanka Army Judo Players Return Home with International Recognition


    Sri Lanka Army Judo players in the recent International Judo Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand performed extremely well securing one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal. Sergeant K.L.C.K Leemagastenna of 8 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) carried a Gold and Private S.A.N Bandara of 6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) succeeded in bagging a Silver medal.Lance Corporal S.A.M.A.D Sameera of 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) meanwhile made the country proud by collecting a Bronze medal.
  • Officers Enlightened on Use of Dangerous Drugs


    As one more project, designed to educate Army officers on dangers, associated with the use of drugs, a workshop, organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations,  got underway at the Rock House auditorium for three-days (Sept 15 - 17). More than 35 officers listened to the lectures, provided by the officials of the National Board for Control of Dangerous Drugs.......

  • 211 Brigade Coordinates Drought Relief Supplies


    Drought-affected civilians resident in the Unit 7 in the resettled Awaranthulawa village received dry ration packets and drinking water bottles, courtesy ‘Global Shapers Colombo Hub’, each packet worth about Rs 3000/=. Following initiatives of the 211 Brigade Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), a total of 115 families received those relief packets on......
