  • Army Cricketer Excels in Yorkshire 20/20 Cricket Tournament


    Lance Corporal Ravindra W. P.G of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, who is a member of the Army Cricket Team, has been selected to play in the ‘Central Yorkshire 20/20 Premier League’ in England from 18 April to 12 September. Lance Corporal Ravindra, who is representing the ‘Wakefield Thrones’ team in the tournament, has shown Excellent Bowling Performances so far, picking up 5 wickets in 5 balls in one match which is a record in the tournament.

  • Kilinochchi School Children Watch Football Matches in Vavuniya


    A group of students from Mulankavil Maha Vidyalaya, Kilinochchi had the rare opportunity of watching football matches in Vavuniya area on Saturday (6). The Army facilitated their passage through transport. A total of 60 students and 4 teachers joined the visit. The group witnessed football matches, played at Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Puthukulam Vidyalaya, Children’s Park, Vavuniya and Public Grounds, Vavuniya.
  • Lecture on Energy Consumption for Eastern Troops


    Troops and officers serving the 23 Division of the Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E) listened to a lecture on ‘energy consumption’ at Welikande College auditorium, conducted by Mr. Nawaneshwaren, Additional General Manager of the Electricity Board, Eastern province and few other officers on Monday (8). Mr. Nawaneshwaren emphasized the importance of careful consumption of energy in the country before 30 officers and 650 other ranks serving at the SFHQ-E who assembled there.

  • Stationery & Readymade Garments for Low Income Families


    Mrs. Sumithra Karunathilake from Melbourne, Australia and Mrs. Ganga Dissanayake from Colombo donated stationery and readymade garments, to the value of Rs.25,000/= to 20 low income families in Pallawarayankaddu, Mulankavil on Monday (08). 1 (V) Gajaba Regiment troops organized this donation programme as per instructions of the Commander 651 Brigade with a view to enhancing the living standards of  these poverty-stricken people in the area.
     
  • Retired Tri-Service Officers with Family Members Refresh Memories at SLMA

    A group of retired tri service Officers, representing the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) visited Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyathalawa on Sunday (7) as a stopover during a 2-day long picnic to the area. A total of 26 retired officers, including 6 Navy and 7 Air Force Officers together with their spouses took time off to arrive at the SLMA refreshing memories of the yesteryear.....
