    112 Brigade Headquarters at Diyatalawa under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) in coordination with the Army Volunteer Training School had their Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival, held at SFHQ-C Rondow Grounds on Tuesday (8).
     
  • Vellamullivaikkal West Wears Festive Garbs


    Civilians in close cooperation with the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) conducted a Sinhala Tamil New Year festival at Vellamullivaikkal West Playgrounds on Sunday (6). Nearly 3500 people and 500 members of the armed forces gathered, to take part in the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival, organized under the supervision of the 681 Brigade.
     
  • More Information on Medical Fund & Welfare Facilities Enclosed with April Pay


    A novel information sheet that contains details on the new medical fund (Suwasahana Aramudala), welfare bus service, loan facilities, etc, has been introduced to all ranks, enclosed with their pay slips beginning April 2014. The new brochure explains medical insurance scheme for Army personnel, possibilities for hiring of Army coaches, made available at concessionary rates as well as other benefits.

    A group of 112 Warrant Officers of all three forces, following an initiative taken by Army Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters, participated in a full-day meditation retreat at the Kanduboda Siyane International Vipassana Meditation Centre.

    As part of his itinerary in Sri Lanka, General Rashad Mahmood NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs Staff Committee (CJCSC), Pakistan, currently on a five-day visit, arrived at Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Thursday (10). During his brief interaction with Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J, the visiting Pakistan’s senior military officer received an update on the current security situation and other matters of importance.

    The festive atmosphere across the country on account of the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year made its presence at Colombo Malay Cricket Club Grounds throughout Friday (11) morning when both officers and soldiers at the Army Headquarters, got together to commemorate the event by holding a New Year festival, giving priority to traditional and fun-making folk games and collective events.

  • Work Begin After New Year at Army Headquarters; Commander Meets Inmates in Hospital




    The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake together with senior officers this morning (16) inaugurated the first formal working day of the New Year at Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony. Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake after lighting the traditional oil lamp invited all present at the location to share new sweetmeats and milk rice (Kiribath) laid on tables at the premises.
