    The inaugural sessions of the ‘Defence Seminar 2012’ for lasting peace and stability with special focus on ‘Reconstruction, Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Reconciliation (5Rs)’ kicked off this morning (8) at Colombo Galadari Hotel with the participation of a galaxy of state administrators, academics, military leaders and resource personnel drawn from both home and abroad.     Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, extending a warm welcome to the delegates attending the ‘Defence Seminar – 2012’ at Colombo Galadari Hotel underlined that the case in Sri Lanka’s post-conflict situation necessitated the engagement of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces for Civil Community, Civil Ministries, Civil Military Cooperation and in Reconstruction since the three-decade conflict had left the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka in disarray.

    Today is the 20th death anniversary of late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest War Heroes in our contemporary history. Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa along with several other military leaders made the supreme sacrifice when LTTE terrorists activated a blast against their vehicle on 8th August 1992. Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa whose leadership and command brought about many victories.....
