    The year's flagship in the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), the 7th "Gunner Supercross" at Minneriya Artillery Complex tracks kicked off on Sunday (8) to a packed record crowd of more than 25,000 - 30,000 motor racing fans. Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya together with his spouse, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) witnessed the exciting event as the Chief Guest.

  • SRIBAT in Haiti Comes In for Praise


    The 15th Sri Lankan Battalion (SRIBAT) currently serving the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) is composed of the soldiers of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and other support service regiments of the Army, Navy and Air Force and has been entrusted to provide security to over 3035 km2 in coastal and semi-mountainous areas.
  • SFHQ-S Troops Continue Support for Dengue Eradication


    Troops of the Security Forces Headquarters-South (SFHQ-S) on Sunday (8) teamed up with civil sector Dengue eradication groups at Ambalantota and Moragahahena residential areas, following requests, made to the Army. Hundreds of troops serving 11 Division, 12 Division, 122 and 112 Brigade Headquarters and SFHQ-S took part in this community oriented project.
  • Troops Erect Two Pre-school Buildings & Wells

     
    Two pre-school buildings and two common wells, constructed by the troops of 11 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) serving 563 Brigade area in Kelebogaswewa village, Vavuniya under 56 Division, were handed over to the public on Saturday (7). Ven Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Patron ‘Thawalama’ project and the Buddhist Association in the UK.....
     
  • 3000 School Students Get Gift Parcels

     
    3000 selected school students, studying at Padaviya Mahasenpura Vidyalaya, Pulmudai Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, Welioya Sampathnuwara Maha Vidyalaya and Padavi Sripura Palugaswanguwa Maha Vidyalaya, received books and school accessories, donated jointly by Kelaniya Rotary Club and philanthropists from Canada, following coordination work, done by the 62 Division in Vavuniya.

  • Troops Warmly Welcome 'Padayathra' Pilgrims Trekking to Kataragama

     
    Troops serving Task Force - 3 at Akkaraipattu accorded a warm welcome to ‘Padayathra’ pilgrims, trekking up to Kataragama sacred place in connection with the Esala festival when they reached the check point of the Wildlife Department at Kumana on Monday (9). This annual feature, attended by about 100 pilgrims first observed religious performances at Okanda Kataragama Devalaya and reached the roadblock at Kumana where the Task Force - 3 troops provided them with meals and refreshments.
