    The ‘Anjalikaraniyayi Oba’ (suitable for veneration in firm clasp) felicitation ceremony, organized by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) for recognition of noble sacrifices and dedication of the parents of fallen War Heroes of the Army took place Monday (27) morning at the BMICH as the second segment of the project.
     
  • Army Para Athletic Medalists Showered with Promotions, Cash Gifts & Other Incentives

     
    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake felicitated all five Army personnel who did the organization proud in the recent 13th Asian Para Games in South Korea by showering them with promotions, cash gifts and many other incentives during a special ceremony, held at the Army Headquarters this morning (27).  Corporal Anil Prasanna Jayalath of Commando Regiment won a Gold in 200 m (T42) event............
  • Joint Army & Navy Troops to Erect New Structures for Attidiya Fair


    A joint Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy project is to provide a modern structure for conduct of the weekly fair at Attidiya, Dehiwala. Sri Lanka Army’s Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) has been entrusted the responsibility of the construction with the troops of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME).
     
  • Pregnant Women & School Children Provided Nutrients & Patients with Drugs


    68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) in the past few days carried out several community-oriented projects in Puthukkuddiyirippu areas. With close cooperation of the Mullaittivu Provincial Director of Health Services, a special mobile medical clinic was conducted at Puthukkuddiyirippu provincial hospital on Sunday (19) with the participation of eight doctors, brought down from elsewhere.
  • Kaddaikadu Fisherfolk Get 'Deepavali' Gift


    Troops of the 55 Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J), together with 3 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), following requests made by fisherfolk in the area,  constructed a guiding Light Tower, close to the Kaddaikadu junction in Jaffna.  With the blessings of Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J, 3 SLSC troops with the help of raw materials provided by they themselves...........
  • 121 Brigade Headquarters New Building Now in Use


    The newly-erected 121 Brigade Headquarters of the Secuirty Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) was opened recently during a ceremony at Kumbukkawa, Moneragala. Colonel B.M.J Balasooriya, Brigade Commander, declared opened the newly constructed Headquarters building, of the 121 Brigade Headquarters. Commanding Officers 12 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 17 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), officers and other ranks serving the 121 Brigade were present at the occasion.
  • North-South Students Join Together for Interactive Sessions in Jaffna


    In what could be considered as one more joint reconciliation project of the Mother Sri Lanka Foundation at Presidential Secretariat and the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), a group of South-based 100 students, together with 25 teachers were facilitated to conduct interactive meeting sessions with Jaffna students during October 24-25 after they were brought to Jaffna by train.
  • Brig (retd) S.Y.D.C Wickramasinghe Passes Away


    Brigadier (retd) Senevirathna Yapage Douglas Chandrasiri Wickramasinghe of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) who had served as an eminent surgeon in the Army for more than 24 years, passed away on Saturday (25) while under treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Having read for MBBS (1957), FRCS (1963) and FACS (US) degrees, he has served in the northern battlefield as well as in Military Hospitals after his enlistment to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 8 January 1965.
     
  • First Katina in Restored Nayaru Temple Held on Grand Scale


    The first Katina Pooja of the restored Nayaru Gurukanda ancient temple in Nayaru, Mullaittivu was held on Monday (27) on a grand scale. The event patronized by Ven. Seruwawila Saranakiththi Nayake Thero, the resident monk was supported by Sri Lanka Navy troops as well as by Tamil Buddhists living in the area.
