  • Army in Their Thousands Join in 'Deyata Sevana' Tree Planting Campaign

    In line with Monday’s countrywide tree planting campaign that marks the inauguration of the second term of office of HE, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, thousands of soldiers in Sri Lanka Army simultaneously launched elaborate formation-wise tree planting drives, giving pride of place to the one at the Army’s newest farm at Panaluwa, Hanwella this morning (15).  Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army who has taken a special interest in complete revival of Army-managed island-wide farms and dairies to coincide with the ‘Deyata Sevana’ national cultivation drive with the technical support of the private sector, took part in the mammoth tree planting ceremony at Panaluwa, Hanwella along with senior officers and soldiers.

  • Volunteer Force Hqrs Awards Schols to Ranaviru Children

    Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters, Battaramulla with the intention of further promoting educational interest among children of War Heroes, offered scholarships, valued at Rs 2,306,000/= among Ranaviru families during a function held Saturday (13), headed by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.

  • ARMY TO CONDUCT THE FIRST EVER JOINT FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE

    The ‘Ex-Cormorants Strike’, the first-ever nine-day long joint exercise in the history of Sri Lanka Army and armed forces is to be commenced on 21st November with the participation of over 2500 troops, drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Under the auspices of Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the exercise of this magnitude, the brainchild of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya is to be conducted in areas spanning from Silawathura, Mannar to Mavillu in Thanthirimale, Anuradhapura.

    Singer (Pvt) Ltd, showing its gesture of goodwill and appreciation over the ‘Abimansala’ project at Anuradhapura for permanently disable War Heroes, offered its generosity to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) with three new refrigerators, worth over Rs. 150,000/=.
