    The LTTE remnants are trying to regroup in India and are posing a threat to VVIPs, the Indian Government told a tribunal examining the extension of the ban on the outfit on November 1. “The LTTE remnants are regrouping in India and posing a threat to the VVIPs...,” the Indian government submitted before a one-man tribunal of Justice Vikramjit Sen, The Times of India reported.

    Sri Lanka Army’s ongoing demining work and mine risk education programmes received a heartening stimulus on Wednesday (3) when the UNICEF gifted vehicles, equipment and supplies, worth over Rs 30 million to the Ministry of Economic Development for acceleration of demining work and promotion of mine risk education. The UNICEF donation, including four Toyota land cruisers, six motorbikes and a range of multi-media equipment, including lap top computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, TVs and DVD players.....

  • Lanka Among Safest after Terrorism Defeat - Gomin Dayasiri

    Sri Lanka has become one of the safest countries in the South Asian region in one and half years after the defeat of terrorism, Advocate Gomin Dayasiri told the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission at the Lakshman Kadiragamar Institute yesterday (2). He said that the war came to an abrupt end as soon as the LTTE leader was eliminated proving the fact that this war was fought only against terrorism and not against any community.
