Brigadier M.R Hameem USP assumed duties as the 11th Director Information Technology of the Sri Lanka Army on 02 January 2026 during a simple ceremony held at the Directorate of Information Technology.

Brigadier W. S. Ravindra Kumara USP lsc assumed duties as the Director Army Bands & Performing Arts of the Sri Lanka Army on 01 January 2026. After assuming duties, the new Director addressed the troops.

Major General H.M.G.E. Herath RSP USP ndu psc assumed office as the 30th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55 Infantry Division at its headquarters in Kilinochchi on 02 January 2026.

Major General M.J.R.S Medagoda RSP USP ndc psc IG assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 11 Infantry Division on 29 December 2025 amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 11 Infantry Division Headquarters in Pallekele.

Brigadier M.K.D.P. Mapalagama psc assumed duties as the new Director Operations of the Sri Lanka Army on 22 December 2025 at the Army Headquarters.

Brigadier R.P. Munipura (Retd) RWP RSP passed away on 1 January 2026 following an acute medical condition while receiving treatment at the Base Hospital, Kiribathgoda. He was 55 years old at the time of his demise.

The 29th Anniversary of the 55 Infantry Division was commemorated on 15 December 2025 at the Division in Kilinochchi.

In line with anniversary celebrations, a flag blessing ceremony was held at the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. Further religious observances were conducted at St. Theresa’s Church, Lumbini Vihara and Kandasamy Kovil in Kilinochchi. In remembrance of fallen heroes, a floral tribute ceremony was conducted in front of the Elephant Pass (Alimankada) Gamini Kularatne Memorial.

Brigadier I.H.S. Wijesena (Retd) passed away on 30 December 2025. He was 63 years old at the time of his demise.

Major General S.P. Wickramasekera RWP RSP USP psc assumed duties as the Director General Overseas Operations of the Sri Lanka Army on 29 December 2025 at the Directorate of Overseas Operations, Army Headquarters.

In line with the concept of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army and under the supervision of Brigadier U.R.I.B. Ranatunge RSP USP, Commandant of Abhimansala–1, a Christmas prayer and blessing ceremony was conducted by Bishop Professor Norbert Andradi, Diocese of Anuradhapura for the inmates on 23 December 2025 at the Abhimansala–1 Wellness Resort, Anuradhapura.
