SLEME Saves Millions through In-House Biomedical Equipment Repairs

The Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) continue to ensure the operational readiness of the Army by maintaining and innovating biomedical equipment across the service.


Troops of the Biomedical Independent Workshop carried out major repairs on biomedical equipment using spare parts worth approximately Rs. 1.5 million, compared to local estimates of nearly Rs. 10 million. The troops’ voluntary and self-motivated efforts, highlighting exceptional professional competence, resulted in substantial public fund savings amid the country’s economic challenges.

New Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Assumes Duties

Major General P.S. Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc assumed duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps on 18 December 2025 at the SLAMC Regimental Centre.


Upon his arrival, he was accorded a guard turnout and a guard of honour.


Addressing all ranks, he highlighted the importance of collective commitment and cooperation in achieving the corps’ goals.


The day concluded with refreshments with the participation of all Ranks.

Bandaranayake USP, the Commander, Security Forces (Central), commended the exemplary service rendered by troops of Divisions, Brigades and Units under Security Forces Headquarters (Central), who were promptly mobilised to carry out disaster relief operations following the Ditwa Cyclone. The commendation was made during an event held at the auditorium of Security Forces Headquarters (Central), on 17 December 2025.
