Major General W.B.M.K.G.K. Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc assumed duties as the 34th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 22 Infantry Division on 05 January 2026 at the Division Headquarters, Trincomalee.
Upon his arrival, the GOC was accorded a guard turnout and a guard of honour presented by the troops of the 22 Infantry Division. Following the formal proceedings, the General Officer Commanding addressed the troops outlining his vision, leadership philosophy and expectations for the future development and operational readiness of the Division.
The formalities for the day concluded with an all ranks tea. Senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event.
