9 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 511 Brigade under the 51 Division of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna have undertaken the responsibility for construction of a new house to a needy civilian in Uduvil South, Jaffna area after Kuberiya Association in association with the Ceylon-American Missionary Church offered their financial sponsorship for the project.
All SFHQs across the country on a conceptual guidance of the Commander of the Army are currently engaged in building homes for needy families with sponsorships, being provided by philanthropists, resident both here and overseas as technically-skilled Army troops have volunteered to accomplish such tasks offering manpower resources.
On Thursday (19), Major General Jagath Kodituwakku, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, together with several Senior Officers and representatives of donors went to the location and laid the foundation-stone for construction of this house to Mr Amithamalar Mahendrarasa, a father of children, living in abject poverty.
Major General Deepal Pussella, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division was also among those present during the simple inaugural occasion.
