Security Forces-Wanni adding their share to the season, organized Christmas Carols at St Joseph's Church in Medawachchiya on Sunday (22) in consultation with the church hierarchy on the directions of Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri, Commander, SF-Wanni.
The event turned colourful with choirs, performed by Sunday school students at St Joseph's church and their parents, too. All students attending Carols were given gifts by the Security Force Headquarters on the same occasion as incentives for their studies.
During the same event, the clergy in the church donated spectacles to a group of selected Catholic priests and sisters who had been diagnosed for vision ailments.
The principal of De Mazenod College, Kandadana, Rev Father Dileepa Jayamaha, together with Rev Fathers and sisters of the St Joseph's church, Medawachchiya, parents and students contributed to the success of the programme.
A group of Army personnel of Catholic faith supported the conduct of the special mass and Carols.
Meanwhile, troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni on the directions of Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni organized Christmas Carols, donation programmes and celebration of Christmas in some other areas too during the festive season.
A special mass and Christmas Carols at Pachchima Mary Catholic Church at Pudhiyasinnakulam, organized by the 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the supervision of the Commander, 563 Brigade and the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division, Major General Jaliya Senarathne on Tuesday (24) drew a large gathering of devotees and Rev Father Sugandharaja at Pachchima Mary Catholic Church as a distinguished guest.
