Indian Army Chief's Spouse Visits 'Mihindu Seth Medura'

The separate agenda that went into action on Monday (14) on behalf of the visiting India's Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat's spouse, Mrs Madhulika Rawat, included a visit to the Mihindu Seth Medura (MSM) at Attidiya where a group of permanently dependent War Heroes are housed for the rest of their lives.

Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit received Mrs Madhulika Rawat, the Chief Guest for the day with offer of a floral bouquet in the company of several ASVU senior members, Brigadier Shantha Thirunavukarasu, Director Rehabilitation and Colonel Nandana Gunawardana, Commandant, ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’.

The day's event, organized under the close supervision of the ASVU President Mrs Chandrika Senanayake and Brigadier Shantha Thirunavukarasu, Director Rehabilitation was enabled to proceed to the main auditorium for the ceremony proper in a colourful procession of traditional dancers and a bevy of ceremonial drummers.

The visiting lady Chief Guest who afterwards made inquiries as to how the MSM looks after those inmates. While visiting MSM wards in the company of the senior Army Officers and others, Mrs Madhulika Rawat spoke to several inmates and did not forget to place her signature in the VIP book at the MSM before she posed for a group photo.

Exchange of mementoes towards the end of the day's programme occurred as symbols of goodwill and friendship.

Intermittent entertaining features of the Army cultural troupe provided variety to the occasion during the meeting.

Several senior Army officers and Seva Vanitha executive members were associated with the day's event.
