Fifth 'Defence Seminar - 2015' of the Army Begins on Tuesday


This year’s gathering of intellectuals and experts on world’s security perspectives, ‘Defence Seminar - 2015’of the Sri Lanka Army starts off on Tuesday (01) morning at Colombo Galadari Hotel with the participation of 66 foreign participants representing 34 countries and foreign missions.

A total of about 350 participants during 1 - 2 September are expected to conduct their discussions centered on ‘National Security in the Context of Emerging Global Threats.’

The sessions assume greater significance this year with the distinguished presence of former President of Afghanistan, HE Hamid Karzai as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Commander of the Army. He is billed to deliver the keynote address at the opening session on Tuesday (1).

Mr B.M.U.D Basnayake, Secretary Defence and Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army are among distinguished guests who are scheduled to inaugurate the session with brief opening remarks.
