Issue at Defence Services College (DSC) Amicably Resolved

A special meeting, convened by Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday (6) morning over an alleged incident that took place at Defence Services College (DSC), Colombo 2 a few days ago between the Director and the Principal, sorted out the differences and negotiated an amicable settlement in the presence of all the parties concerned, says a Press Release issued by the Ministry of Defence.

The meeting, chaired by Mr B.M.U.D Basnayake, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, was attended by the Secretary to Ministry of Education, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force, Inspector General of Police, Director, DSC, Principal, DSC, representatives of the parents and the tutorial staff and a few MoD officials.

The meeting ironed out differences that erupted between the Director and the Principal at the DSC, consequent to the incident and reached an amicable settlement for the greater benefit of all parties concerned with focus centred prominently on the uninterrupted education of the children of War Hero families.

Matters that fall within the purview of the administrative aspect of the DSC as well as the tutorial staff at the DSC, were clearly defined and explained to the attendees during this special meeting at the MoD.

All parties agreed that a special meeting with all members of the teaching staff be organized on Monday (9), followed by a similar meet with the parents on another convenient day.

An alleged altercation on Monday (2) between the Director and the Principal at DSC prompted two separate protest campaigns by the teachers and the parents afterwards.
