Jaffna &;amp; East SFHQs &;amp; 59 Div Mark Army Anniversary


Several more Army establishments around the country commemorated the 64th Army anniversary and Army Day simultaneously on October 10 at respective places.

Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), adding a new dimension to the anniversary event, donated blood to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital during an arrangement, organized at Army Base Hospital at Palaly.

More than 241 soldiers gave away their blood for the benefit of patients at Jaffna Teaching Hospital on the occasion, manned by a team of Jaffna Blood Bank medical and nursing officers. Blood thus collected is to be used for patients, ready to undergo surgical operations.

In the same afternoon, senior officers at SFHQ-J visited the inmates at the Army Hospital and presented them with gift parcels to coincide with the day’s event.

Meanwhile, after hoisting the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) flag on Thursday (10), the SFHQ-E initiated its commemorative ceremony at the premises. They sang the Army song together and listened to the message of the Commander for the day before everybody took part in a tea party. Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-E hoisted the SFHQ-E flag before the commencement of the day’s proceedings.

In the meantime, 59 Division Headquarters at Nanthikadal under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) had their own Army Day ceremonies with tree planting, blood donation and a tea party. More than 150 soldiers donated blood for the use of Tamil patients at Mullaittivu Hospital. Arrangements included reading of the message of the Commander and a tea party.
