Maldives’ Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, now on a goodwill tour to Sri Lanka called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Monday (10) afternoon.
Earlier on the day, the visiting military chief paid a courtesy call on Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development and exchanged views on security matters of regional concern.
Major General Ahmed Shiyam during his interaction with the Commander of the Army at Army Headquarters recalled cooperation being extended by Sri Lanka Army for training of young Maldivian military officers and wanted mutual understanding and exchange of programmes be increased.
Towards the end of the interaction, both military officers exchanged mementos.
