'Singer' Company Offers Its Share for 'Abimansala 2' Project

Singer (Pvt) Ltd, honouring its pledge of support to the proposed, ‘Abimansala 2’ for dependent War Heroes at Wilpitawatta, Udumulla in the South, donated its contribution of Rs 5.25 million for construction of one Villa in the wellness resort to Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army on Tuesday (24).

Mr Hiran Asoka Pieris, Chief Executive Officer, Singer (Pvt) Ltd, together with Mr P. Joseph Premalal de Silva, Director Operations and Mr A.R.N Pushpa Kumara Wijesundara, Sales Manager-Special Projects during a brief meeting at the Army Headquarters, presented the cheque to that value to the Commander of the Army.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, acknowledging the gesture on behalf of the ‘Brave Hearts’ project of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch, expressed his gratitude to the donors since such offers are a stimulus to the entire project, estimated to cost about Rs 240 million upon completion with 7 Villas and 5 Cottages.  Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch was also associated with the occasion.

The proposed Wilpitawatta ‘Abimansala-2’ is to provide those dependent War Heroes with Therapeutic Aids, Ward Complex for 20 inmates, Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Physiotherapy Unit, Medical Wing, Medical Laboratory, Library, Indoor Stadium, Entertainment Hall, Dining Hall, Auditorium, Kitchen, Herbal Treatment (Ayurveda) Centre and a few more essential wings.
