A TWO-MEMBER ICRC team, including its Head for Vavuniya Ms. Valerie Petitpierre during a meeting with Major General Jagath Jayasuriya at the Wanni Security Forces Headquarters Tuesday (28) assured continued ICRC cooperation for improvement in arrangements in Omanthai, Pulmodai and IDP centers as the civilian influx swelled.
The meeting also focused matters, related to ICRC staff serving at different locations including IDP centers and expansion of welfare activities among IDPs. Major General Jayasuriya also explained measures that have already been taken by the Security Forces for registration of displaced people arriving at those centers across Omanthai.
Departure and unloading facilities available at Pulmodai, from where the ICRC picks entrapped civilians to be taken for medical treatment in Trincomalee also figured during those discussions.
