'Healthy Army – Healthy Nation' (HAHN) Unit of the Army Hospital launched an awareness campaign under the theme ‘Prevent, Treat, Beat, Diabetics’ on Thursday (07) at the Army Hospital, Narahenpita to educate Hospital Staff and the patients. The project was organized to coincide with the World Health Day which falls on 7 April each year.
The awareness programme was launched under the 'Healthy Army – Healthy Nation' Unit on the directions and the supervision of Dr. A.S.M Wijewardane, Consultant Physician and Executive Coordinator, 'Healthy Army – Healthy Nation' project.
In the meantime, Probationary Officer (PO) A. C. K. Udugama , Dietician conducted a lecture to educate the participants on diabetics and food management on the same occasion.
Finally, all the attendees were requested to get cholesterol levels examined and Body Mass Index (BMI) measured.
A large gathering, including Hospital Staff, OPD and Clinical patients and their families participated in the event.
