“Sri Lanka Army with a Heart” Continues its Community Roles in Kilinochchi

Following sponsorship received from philanthropists of the area, the “Sri Lanka Army with a Heart” organized one more free distribution of dry ration packs to 42 deserving families living in Killinochchi area on Saturday (5) after inviting them to the Kannan Church premises.

Thanks to the guidelines given by Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division as instructed by Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu, 571, 572 and 573 Brigade troops in close consultation with respective Grama Niladari (state officials) of Kilinagar, Ilamanthalaru and Panikkulam Grama Seva Divisions picked up the families who are leading a hand-to-mouth life with children.

Each dry ration pack, inclusive of rice, dhal, sprats, milk powder, spices, nutrients, tinned food, etc was worth about Rs 2750/= and several donors, appreciative of the Army’s community roles, volunteered to lend their generosity for the project.

On behalf of General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Major C.M.G.N.S Samarasekara of 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment attended as the Chief Guest. Some other Officers and Other Ranks were present at the location.
