‘Spirits of Innovation in the City of Harmony’ Inaugurated

Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) organized an innovative exhibition under the theme on “Spirits of Innovation in the City of Harmony” Monday (04) at ‘Nelum Piyasa’, Auditorium at Kilinochchi.

The exhibition with full of new innovations was declared open by Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) as the chief guest.

At the invitation of the Commander, SF-KLN, clergies of all main religions, Mr. Arumenayagam, District Secretary for KLN, senior officers, several government officials, teachers, civilians and about 600 school students participated at the inaugural ceremony.

The exhibition was launched with the objective of promoting innovative thinking among the soldiers and taking the message of the importance of innovative thinking to others. The competition in the exhibition was judged by Prof. Kandasami and Prof Raviraj of the University of Jaffna at the SFHQ-KLN request.

Meanwhile, Major General Karunasekara during a special ceremony after the exhibition appreciated the contribution of all ranks to the success of the innovative exhibition. The award winning inventors received their certificates in the same ceremony.

7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (7 SLLI), was awarded the first prize for their ‘innovative intelligent traffic control model integrated with proximity centers’. 7 Sri Lanka National Guard (7 SLNG) achieved the second prize for ‘gravity assisted water pump’. Meanwhile, 6 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, achieved the third place for their ‘kola path plate making machine’.
