One Officer and 20 Other Ranks of the 7 Gemunu Watch serving under the 142 Infantry Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) joined hands with the Sri Lanka Coastal Guard and Police personnel of the environmental protection division to clear the beach around the Crow Island in Modera on Monday (July 03).
This beach-clearing project was aimed at preserving and maintaining the pristine beauty of the Crow Island, a popular tourist destination known for its attractive coastline and diverse marine life. During the project, all the participants worked tirelessly to remove throw-aways, garbage, and other pollutants that had accumulated along the beach patch.
The Commander of the 142 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier J.K.R.P Jayasinghe RWP RSP USP and the Commanding Officer of 7 GW, Lieutenant Colonel D.M.C.L Dissanayake RWP RSP closely monitored the Army’s contribution to this community project as per the directions of the Commander, SF-West, Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP.
