West Troops after Heavy Rains & Strong Winds Launch Disaster Relief Action

Around 60 troops from the 6 Field Sri Lanka Artillery, 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, and 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps after heavy rains caused traffic disruptions, damages to houses and buildings, trees to fall and different rescue operations,etc jumped into action within a few hours on 06 July and assisted all stakeholders involved in clearing, repairing and removing debris .

Recent heavy rains and gushing winds badly affected Dagonna, Kadawala, Halgahawelawatta, Katuwellegama, Bobugammana and Palugahawela areas in the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretariat causing damages to 73 houses and two temples.

However, the Army troops, along with various government agencies, including the Disaster Management Centre, worked round the clock until the following day (06 July) providing relief and trying to restore normalcy to the affected people and areas.

Those supportive roles were launched on the directions of the Commander Security Forces - West, Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP and the Commander 14 Infantry Division and the Commander 141 Infantry Brigade jointly supervised the relief work.
