West Troops & 65 Div Troops Do Separate Community Projects

In response to a request, 2 Officers and 60 Other Ranks of the Security Forces – West on Thursday (19) cleaned up the ‘Osu Uyana’ (Herbal Garden) at Meegoda, adjoining the Meegoda Provincial Ayurvedic Hospital since it has remained covered with invading plants and creepers and left unattended.

Meegoda Ayurvedic Hospital authorities who are maintaining the ‘Suwa Gewatta’, ‘Suwa Ketha’ and ‘Elhena Project’ in the premises turned to the Army for assistance to clean up the Herbal Garden fully covered with encroaching plants and creepers.

On the instructions of Major General Mahinda Mudalige, Commander, Security Forces - West, those troops cleaned up the garden and made it neat and tidy within a day and handed it over to the authorities.

Brigadier Uditha Bandara, Brigadier General Staff, SF-West and Brigadier I. P Kadanaarachchi, Brigadier Administration and Quartering also took part in this cleaning project with others.

Meanwhile, troops of the 651 and 652 Brigades under the 65 Division of the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi contributed to separate ‘Shramadana’ campaigns during 12-14 September in the general areas of Mulankavil and Anavilanthankulam.

1 Officer and 10 Other Ranks of 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment and 6 civilians joined hands together with civilians to clean the Mulankavil Vinayagar pre-school premises. Similarly, 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops joined another cleaning programme at Jesus Church at Anavilandankulam. 21 Army members supported the project.

651 and 652 Brigade Commanders took the initiative in this regard on the guidelines given by Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division. Mysneakers | Mens Flynit Trainers
