Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West), made a two-day field visit covering the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters and its under-command Brigades and Battalions during 7 - 8 September respectively.
The Commander, SF-West was warmly welcomed by Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division at Boossa after he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance.
On the first day, Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc visited the 61 Infantry Division HQ at Boossa, 612 Infantry Brigade HQ at Matugama, 613 Infantry Brigade HQ at Kamburupitiya and continued the visit to the 611 Infantry Brigade and 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment located at Beragala on the next day.
Brigade Commanders of 611, 612 and 613 Infantry Brigades and Commanding Officers under 611, 612 and 613 Infantry Brigades welcomed the Senior Officer at their respective locations. During the visits, he listened to comprehensive briefings on roles and tasks and the present situation of respective areas. He also addressed the troops at each location appreciating their commitment to the duty.
Adding memories to the visit, he posed for group photographs and planted saplings in each compound. Staff Officers of SF-West, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in those events.
