War Heroes' Remembrance Month Inaugurated

The formal inauguration of the War Heroes' Commemoration Month - 2018 and the launch of the Ranaviru flag sale took place on Wednesday (2) at the President's Secretariat during a brief ceremony.

Mrs Anoma Fonseka, Chairperson, Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) inaugurating the month of remembrance pinned the first 'Ranaviru' flag on HE the President Maithripala Sirisena. On the same occasion, Governors in all provinces handed over cash collections, made by sale of Ranaviru flags to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President in return delivered Ranaviru flags for the year 2018 to the Governors who were present.

The Ranaviru month commenced on Wednesday (2) will continue until 2nd June 2018 and culminates with a series of highlights towards the end of the month.

War Heroes' Commemoration Month pays gratitude to the memory of all fallen War Heroes who sacrificed their lives and limbs during the humanitarian operation to end the three-decade long terrorism in the country.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Hon. Minister of Public Administration and Management and Law and Order Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Governors, Hon. State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene, Chief of Defence Staff, Army, Navy and Air Force Commanders and several state officials and tri-service Officers were present during the ceremony.
