The Seva Vanitha Unit of Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) organized a War Heroes’ Remembrance ceremony Saturday (11) at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo with President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Children of all fallen and wounded War Heroes of MIC received school books and all other necessary items for schooling for the year 2011 at this ceremony. Each family of War Heroes was also provided with a valuable pack of dry rations as a mark of goodwill from the Seva Vanitha Unit of MIC.
This ceremony organized in honour of War Heroes started initially in the year 2001 by Mrs. Gnana Balagalle, a past President of MIC Seva Vanitha Unit has been continuing every year since then.
Sri Lanka Mobitel Telecom and Sri Lanka Family Planning Association together with Logitech (Pvt) Limited sponsored the event which was also supported by some other businessmen and philanthropists. Officers and soldiers of MIC too donated to this worthy cause.
Mrs. Balagalla, Past Presidents of the Seva Vanitha Unit and many MIC Senior Officers participated at the ceremony.
