War Hero Charith Kulathilake's Maiden Album Out - Presented to Pandith Amaradewa, Secy Defence &;amp; Commander

The Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala’ resident visually impaired but differently able, Corporal Charith Kularuwan Kulathilake of 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), the War Hero who made a name for himself through the ‘Ranaviru Real Star’ musical talent programme, made his debut Tuesday (1) evening with his first album, ‘Rana Handa Esunawe’ at the Colombo 5 Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Mandiraya, to be greeted by a distinguished gathering.

The blessings of Maestro Pandith Amaradewa and Mrs Wimala Amaradewa as well as the encouragement and unfailing support, lent to him by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development and Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, prompted him to produce the album with 12 new songs while spending time at ‘Abimansala’ Anuradhapura.

The War Hero, Kulathilake who lost his sight and also became physically handicapped as a result of a terrorist explosion in Muhamalai Front Line, succeeded in entering the final round of the ‘Ranaviru Real Star - Mission 3’ among 12 finalists.

Launch of the CD ‘Rana Handa Esunawe’ was graced by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development as the Chief Guest, together with Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army and a host of invitees.   

The album ‘Rana Handa Esunawe’ contains new creative lyrics with melodies provided by veteran musicians in the country.

The main CD copy was first presented to Maestro Pandith W.D. Amaradewa by the vocalist, followed by its presentation to Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and several others.

Mrs Wimala Amaradewa, the spouse who took the initiative in this regard at the same time handed over legal documents, pertaining to intellectual rights of the songs, melodies and lyrics to the vocalist in accordance with legal aspects. 

Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa, Chairperson, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Chief of Staff, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General, renowned vocalists, lyrics writers, artistes, spouse of the vocalist, relatives, senior officers, ‘Abimansala’ inmates and a large gathering extended their greetings to the occasion.
