In order to avoid any large scale outbreak of Dengue epidemic, the enthusiastic Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni carried out a special Dengue prevention and awareness programme in the sacred areas of Anuradhapura Maha Mewna Uyana for three days covering 2-4 May.
The community project organized on the guidelines given by Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni saw more than 900 Wanni troops serving under the Security Force HQ - Wanni participating in the project, ahead of the forthcoming Vesak festival which could attract thousands of devotees to the sacred city.
On the instructions of Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division and also under the close supervision of Brigadier M.W.D.N Mediwaka RSP USP, Brigade Commander, 212 Infantry Brigade, Wanni troops joined hands together and performed the task during three days by ridding all pollutants from those areas.
Officers attached to the 212 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officers actively contributed to the project, together with Other Ranks.
