The Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-Wanni) on Sunday (16 July) wished good luck and extended best wishes to its outgoing Commander, SF-Wanni, Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP who has been designated to assume the office of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army.
Military formalities including a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour parade, presented by 4 Gajaba Regiment troops saluted him after he reviewed those honours upon his arrival at the location.
After a while, the outgoing Wanni Commander attended to formal hand-over formalities at his office in the presence of General Officers Commanding, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) and Principal Staff Officers. He also did not forget to leave some notable compliments in the Visitors’ Book that reminds of his tenure in the SFHQ-W.
Likewise, Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP in a moving address offered his sincere gratitude to All Ranks in respective formations for high standards of professionalism maintained during his office while promoting civil-military co-operation in the area.
To his credit, the outgoing Wanni Commander was instrumental in launching a wide variety of welfare projects for the best interests of the under privileged in the Wanni sector by way of construction of houses for the poor, conduct of mobile medical clinics, supply of dry rations to civilians and school accessories to students, etc with the assistance of foreign and local well-wishers
Towards the end of the day’s farewell programme, Brigadier General Staff at the SFHQ-Wanni, and all General Officers Commanding awarded mementos to the outgoing Senior Officer as symbols of their appreciation towards his inspiration, guidance and methodical command as the Wanni Commander.
General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks joined the ceremony and military formalities.
Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP held the office of Wanni Commander for 21 months after he was appointed in 2021.
