Wanni Troops to Erect One More House for a Needy Family in Ruwangama

Security Forces in Wanni embarking on another civil community-oriented project as per directions of the Commander of the Army laid the foundation stone for construction of a new house to the homeless civilian, Mr A. Ravindra Ranasinghe residing at Ruwangama, Thanthirimale on Friday (11).

The beneficiary with three children at the age of 1, 9 and 11 was undergoing a lot of hardships without a proper shelter when his plight was brought to the attention of the troops.

The philanthropist living in Homagama Mr Rasith Manatunga on a request made by the Commander, 212 Brigade HQ offered to foot the cost of raw materials for the entire house, considering his helpless condition. Troops of the 5 Sri Lanka National Guard meanwhile undertook the task of erecting the house using their manpower and technical skills.

Commander, Security Forces-Wanni gave his blessings to the project to be completed on directions given by the General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, along with the Commander, 212 Brigade.

The foundation stone for construction of the house was auspiciously laid by Major General Mohan Rathnayaka, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Brigadier Rohan Rajapaksha, Commander 212 Brigade together with a few Officers and soldiers, adhering to health guidelines. Members of the beneficiary's family and a few villagers also joined the occasion.
