Wanni Commander Inspects Thandikulam Railway Station Site

WITH A VIEW to inspecting finishing touches being given to upcoming Thanndikulam Railway Station on Colombo-Jaffna train line, Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander Security Forces (Wanni) visited the site in the company of three more senior officers on Tuesday (2).

Construction work, initiated under ‘Uthuru-Mithuru’ programme, now in progress, related to the construction of the north-bound railway track, demolished by Tiger terrorists during their abortive fight for separation, is to cost several millions of rupees which will be collected through public funds, on a concept proposed by Minister Dullas Alahapperuma. Reconstruction work is actively supported by Army troops, now serving the area in Vavuniya. Thandikulam railway station is situated several kilometers away from the northern edge of the Vavuniya town.       

Meanwhile, Major General Jagath Jayasuriya visited Menik Farm Relief Village in order to inspect infrastructure facilities, provided to the Relief Village and also other facilities given to civilians rescued from the grip of LTTE terrorism.
