VIR Wins Inter Regiment Championship in Muay Thai

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) players beating more than 120 competitors of 13 Regiments of the Army won the Championship in the Inter Regiment Muay Thai Championship 2022, held at Panagoda Indoor Stadium on 14 December.

The Gajaba Regiment and Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops emerged 2nd and 3rd runners -up respectively. Before the final matches, preliminary ones were conducted in September this year.

Sri Lanka Army Muay Thai Committee on the guidelines given by Brigadier Sanka Jayamaha, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Muay Thai Committee organized the event. The awarding ceremony on the same day was attended by Brigadier Sanka Jayamaha as the Chief Guest.

Regimental Performances and Individual Performances are as follows:

Championship - Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (07 Gold Medals, 03 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals)

Runner-up - Gajaba Regiment (01 Gold Medals, 06 Silver Medals and 10 Bronze Medals)

Second Runner-up - Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (01 Gold Medals, 01 Silver Medals and 02 Bronze Medals)

Best striker - Privet K.G.C.S D Kodithuwakku of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

Best Loser - Lance Corporal S.H.L Senarathna of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
