The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), not forgetful of numerous sacrifices made by its infantrymen for the sake of the territorial integrity of the country extended its joint welfare patronage with the VIR Seva Vanitha Unit to 162 more school-going sons and daughters of fallen War Heroes, wounded War Heroes, and a few serving VIR personnel during a donation project, staged at 'Salute' VIR Reception Hall, Boyagane on Saturday (19), chaired by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel of the Regiment, VIR.
Those 162 students received packs of school accessories, educational aids, uniforms, shoes and sports needs during this ceremony in addition to the donation of 13 artificial limbs, including specific one that can be used for sports. Similarly, the vision-impaired daughter of a VIR War Hero received a Braille educational system on the same occasion. The entire value of those gifts stood at about Rs 1.5 million which was largely sponsored by philanthropists and the VIR-SVU,
