VIR Regimental Centre Adds its Share to Vesak

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops staged a colourful Vesak Festival at the VIR Regimental HQ, Boyagane during 5 - 7 May under the guidance of Major General S.U.M.N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Colonel of the Regiment VIR and Director General General Staff.

The Chief Guest for the inauguration was the Colonel of the Regiment, together with Mrs Kumudu Manage, Chairperson, VIR Seva Vanitha Branch. They marked the start of the spectacle by lighting the traditional oil lamp and afterwards switching on the lights.

The Vesak celebration in the VIR compound was comprised of colourful Vesak lanterns, a presentation of devotional songs (Bakthi Geetha), and a free eatery (Dansela) attracting Vesak sight-seers in the area.

Senior Officers, Officers, Spouses of Officers and troops were present during the inaugural ceremony.
