VIR Ex-Servicemen Gather at Mother Regiment for AGM

The 13th Annual General Meeting of the Ex-Servicemen’s Association of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) got underway at the Salute Multifunctional Hall at the VIR Regimental HQ at Boyagane, Kurunegala on Saturday (17).

Major General Nishantha Manage, Director General General Staff at the Army Headquarters participated as the Chief Guest of the event. Welcome speech, lighting of traditional oil lamp, presentation of past minutes and budget reports afterwards led the meeting for introduction of few constitutional changes to the Association.

Major General Chandana Gunawardena (retd) was appointed as the new President of the Association. The good work and the commitment of the committee were appreciated by the members of the Association while the members also had the opportunity to give their comments and ideas about the future work during the Annual General Meeting.

More than 488 retired Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment attended the meeting, together with the VIR Centre Commandant.
