In order to provide livelihood support for the people living in Periyavalayankandu area, Vavuniya, 15 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops on Tuesday (8) installed a water purification plant at the camp entrance for the benefit of poor people, affected due to shortage of water.
Mr R.M Pathiraja of Kurunagala sponsored the requirement at the request of Major R.M.J.B Rajapaksha, Commanding Officer, 15 (V) SLSR who also supervised the entire project.
Major General Manjula Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division graced inauguration of the project as the Chief Guest.
Colonel Anura Jayasekara, Commander, 562 Brigade took the initiative in this regard having learnt about those difficulties of the villages.
Senior Officers, Officers, troops of 15 (V) SLSR and villagers took part in the event.
